Started to work this morning, backed up fine, went down the drive way ok, pulled out into the raod about 30 feet and then nothing.. Motor was running great just no go. I thought i had bumped it into neutral so I looked down and nope it was still in drive. I pulled it into reverse and it tried to move a little but thats about itI got it too roll to the side of the road and took my jeep on to work. Later today I came home checked the fluid level- it was a little low so i topped it off and still nothing. So I towed it to my moms back yard were it was level and with the engine tac at est 2500 shifted between 1st and reverse and could feel it trying to move some what. Did this several times. Then pulled the 4whl dr shifter from H2 to H4 then to L4 a couple of times(with it in reverse) and it suddenly jumps back wards.? I put it into drive and it moves forward slowly after a few more of these shifts it starts to drive in LOW range. I drove it about 1 1/2 mile in LOW stoped and shut it off for a few and started it up and put it in H2 and put 10 more miles on it and it run fine with just some slipping and the first pulling out.. Any ideas what is going on here?? sorry for the long post- just wanted to cover everythng thnx..

Was the tranny fluid the nice reddish color it was supposed to be? I wondering if your torque converter has gone out. A blocked filter could do something similar.

fluid had a good color I thought about the filter dont know when it was changed last. I bought it used with 217,000 on it and have put 35,000 on it since i have had it so maybe changeing the tranny filter would be a good idea.
