91 4runner head gasket replace- help!

Just got a (new to me) 4runner with a blown head gasket and my brother and I decided to replace the head gasket ourselves. We are no mechanics but we do alright. Anyway We got the thing torn down fine and got the heads milled. We are about to put it back together and I have a couple of questions.

Since the oil was contaminated with antifreeze, what do I need to do to clean the block out? Just a change the oil a lot after I get it running or what?

Also any other tips or advice for putting the beast back together will be VERY helpful.

Thanks and glad to be a part of the forum!

just drain the coolant out and fill it once and stick to your normal oil change schedule. Get the proper torque procedure for your head and everything should be ok

Thanks. I was just concerned because the block is still coated in that coffee looking liquid created by oil and antifreeze and I didn't want that to cause issues. Got the torque sequence so it should work out...hopefully

If you still got it apart it wouldnt hurt to wipe down the cylinders, the water will drain to the pan but If you got gunk on top of the pistons I'd wipe em out best you can and call it good

My 4runner is about to be finished from the HG install.

Im going to get some cheap oil run it for about 20 miles and then drain and refill with good stuff. I wiped down the pistons and put some oil on the cylinder wall before putting the head back on
