I have a '92 4runner that's been acting up and I'm hoping you can help. Occasionally when the car is in drive I will step on the gas and it acts as though its in neutral. The engine revs and it barely creeps along. I can shift it manually into low then second then drive and that works just fine but drive wont work on its own. Reverse also works fine. And when it does this the "o/d off" light flashes. This problem generally happens when I first start the engine but it does happen in the middle of driving sometimes. Does anyone know what is wrong? Its done this since I first got the car but its been happening a lot more lately. And once it started acting up more it takes longer to shift from I think 3rd to 4th and sometimes doesn't at all. Also I want to know if its bad to shift a manual transmission like that when it doesn't want to work on its own.
