92 4x4 problem

I was out on a trail going threw some really deep water. (not deep enough to kill the motor) Then while I was crawling up out of the mud hole, the 4x4 light went off. I could tell the 4wd deffinatly was not engaging. I crawled up out of the hole in 2wd. After that the 4wd would engage sometime randomly. (when it was shifted into 4H) I am some what of a mechanic but I have never done anything with a 4wd system can someone give me a point to start from or a book I could get that would help me?

The vacuum hoses going to the front diff may have some water in it?

Check under your car!

It has been awhile about 3 or so months since this happend wouldnt the water have dried up? (The truck has been sitting) Also what am I to look for where do the vaccum lines end up?

Do you have the A.D.D. hubs(auto locking)?... could be the vacuum lines.
