I stole the title "rescue runner" from "the kid," another member here.
Anyways, an update on my runner and what has been going on with it. A couple weeks ago I had a mishap with my runner on my way to go camping, long story short I went off the highway (~55mph), over a bunch of rocks and stuff, and through a 10' game fence. I smashed the bumper up into my passenger quarter panel, and killed two tires and wheels. The pic below shows the bumper tweaked. My truck would have really been screwed up if I haven't had my front bumper. My front passenger side suspension really took a beating though. The tie rod is about to break and the truck pulls to the left among other issues.
I have full coverage on my truck, so I claimed it. Well, they totaled my truck (surprise, surprise). Good news is I'm going to be getting some cash because of this incident, and the cosmetic damage I can fix myself/with buddies without much issue. Just in the process of settling (they keep lowballing me), but I'm fighting for more money.
As far as the suspension goes, I have decided that I am going to SAS my truck. Today I picked up a complete axle. The guy said it was an 83 axle, but it has "ASCO" hubs on it. If I'm not mistaken, the ASCO hubs only came on the 79-81 axles, but the hubs could have been swapped. Maybe someone can chime in with more knowledge.
I decided for the IFS eliminator, I want to go with the Sky's off road designs 2.5" SAS kit. I like the fact that it isn't a huge lift. I think this kit with some 35s would look pretty clean. The swap will not be instant but I will try to keep this updated on the progress of the runner. I will also try to get some more pics of the damage because I really have none on my computer at the moment.

The axle looks really rusty and nasty in this pic but it is actually in decent shape.

This pic sucks but you can kind of see the separation of the bumper on the drivers side.
