i just had new front axles put on my 4x4 3.0 v6 auto 4r, and as soon as i got it back, it started making a noise from the front end when i would drive it, it wasnt one long noise, it sounds like a spinning shaft. it gets louder and faster the faster i go, its a steady bump bump bump and gets faster and faster. it isnt the axles as i was in 2wd, but i think something wasnt put back on right, please HELP??

Unless you have manual hubs, the axles are still spinning even in 2wd. If you had them installed at a shop, I would be right back in there making them fix it. If you did it yourself, you made a mistake somewhere. Also want to make sure your bearings are packed and tightened correctly.

it was done at a shop, and i called them and took it back down there tonight, for them to fix tomorrow. and thanks for the info, didnt know the axles still spun in 2wd, and no mines got auto hubs. any info on what it could be making the noise?

well, Yota, is it like a 'clack' noise, that you think is coming from the front, but may be in the middle of your truck under the driver/passenger seats, and sounds more when you accelerate more? If so, don't rule out the possibility of checking your Ujoints in your driveshaft.

& good move on taking it back to them as well.

yea its either coming from the front or the middle, but it only make sense that its coming from up front where the axles were replaced, you can feel the thump in your feet just a tiny bit, and yea it gets faster and louder the more you accelerate.

well heard back from them, ended up being a "bad" axle from the factory on the right side. i call complete bulls@$!. he said i could swamp the axles out for a new one at advance but hed have to charge me another 40 dollars to reinstall it. and the funny thing is, its my uncles shop. gotta love family sometimes. will be swapping axles and taking it to my other uncle who will do it for free.
