94 LC Coil Fit

I am going today to buy the wheels off a 94 LC that a guys is parting out. I'm thinking about snagging the rear coils for my lift. I've done a search on here but I'm still not sure how to tell if they will fit my 98 4R. Will all FJ80 rear coils fit 3rd gens? Do the color codes only represent height and wrap #? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm also wondering if 18 year old springs off a truck with 175K miles are worth having? May be better to just buy new?

LC coils from a 94 should lift about 4-4.5 inches. It varies from truck to truck. All front coils on LC fits rear end of our 3rd gens. The ride will be smoother and not stiff like OME lift springs. Just depends on what you're looking for.

In your post you wrote "Will all FJ80 rear coils fit 3rd gens?" To be clear, you need the FRONT coils from an FZJ80 for the REAR of your truck. If you already knew this, awesome, but if not hopefully you'll get the correct coils.

Totally forgot to mention that to him. The rear FJZ80 coils only fit on 2nd gen 4runners. You will definitely need the front coils. Just get the whole set and sell the rears here on T4R if you want.

I did not already know that. Not sure how I missed that info in all of the LC lift posts I've read. Thanks!

If the rear shocks are in good shape you can use those for the rear of your T4R once you put the LC coils in.

Will you be compressing and installing the front lift yourself?

If you are getting the 18 year old coils for free and doing the install for free then sure try it out. But if you are going to pay for 2-3 hours labor to do the install then don't use those 18 year old coils. Just my opinion.

Springs/coils do age and after 18 years I would assume they are shot.
