95 4runner key fob. Black or gray used?

Been on the forum (great info, thx) a few days and took delivery today of 1995 4runner. Has factory installed alarm but missing key fob. Research on replacement fob sites indicates one must know whether Toyo factory used gray or black fob when replacement is ordered.

Can anyone tell me how to make this determination having no original remote to go by? Have searched here but have not had any luck.

I would think it would not matter but im not 100%. Just call you local dealer and ask them.All they should need is the VIN. They would definitely be the authority regarding what key fab you need

Mine is black and has part no. 237131-01300 on the back.

Thanks for the info. Discovered a separate manual titled "1995 Theft Deterrent System with remote operation owner's manual". Back page notes copyright by Audiovox Corp.

Wonder now whether this is aftermarket or if Toyota factory in 1995 used Audiovox made systems. It has the little valet switch and the red dash led so often mentioned by others. Thanks

Toyota uses Audiovox components factory, and continues to do so, at least in the vehicles i've seen. try calling audiovox and asking them also, in addition to contacting your local toyota dealership.
