Hey there, so i'm brand new on here, been searching threads for a week and haven't seen a post like mine, so i figured i'd give it a shot.
when my 4runner has been sitting overnight and i start it in the morning, after about a minute or so, instead of dropping to normal idle, she will gradually increase in RPMs up till about 2300 over the course of 4 or 5 minutes, then drop to a normal idle.. yesterday it was overheating for the first time ever driving on the highway, and i came home, let it cool, added water into the radiator and sure enough there is water leaking gradually somewhere near the water pump.. i took it in, mechanic was SURE it was the water pump, i'm wondering if the thermostat or fan clutch is what's actually wrong, would it still be leaking water/coolant? there is no oil in coolant or coolant/water in oil. thanks!
