95 clutch bracket

Well it finally happened. Hop in my 95 to head to lunch, press down on the clutch and I hear a loud POP. Suddenly I can't shift gears, and I knew the worst had happened. My clutch pedal bracket had given up the ghost. Anybody have any tips or tricks they'd like to pass along before I dig into this mess?

I had to do this to mine when i bought it. It's not that hard to do. Repairing the bracket may work mine had been repaired once by the p.o. and it failed again so i bought it. I just replaced it with one from a junkyard. I was able to pull the new one with out removing to much. I think when i put it back in i found it was easier to take the brake peddle off the new one. Also take out everything that is under the steering wheel. (ie the trim piece, the heater duct, ect.)

Thanks for the tips. I feel a little better about tackling this job now. Decided I'm not even going to mess with a repair job, it doesn't sound like they usually last too long. Bit the bullet and shelled out $220 at the dealership for a new bracket. Ouch.

Take some photos when you do the swap out, I'd love to see where it broke. Would be a good reference too for others with this issue in the future.

Here's what I did on mine. My bracket was badly repaired before I owned the truck, so I had to replace it. I cut the clutch and brake part of the bracket out and replaced it with the bracket from a T100. The T100 bracket is $70 vs $220.

COUPLE OF WARNINGS!

- If you use the T100 bracket, check to make sure that your clutch pedal 'hook' is centered on the pivot; otherwise, you'll have to replace the pedal too.

- The clutch start switch will not fit. I just compressed the switch and capped it with a wire nut. Kinda renders the 'clutch switch cancel' button useless.

Here's the parts that I used:

55107-34030 "Support sub-Assy" (this is the bracket) $68.82
55113-34010 "plate, clutch ped" (backing plate) $6.24

I made the mistake of forgetting the bolt that mounts vertically when I did a manual swap. I was able to weld mine up and add some extra bracing. Wether you get a new bracket or fix yours I highly suggest removing the drivers seat to make getting to and working on it a whole lot easier.

Samething that happened to mine. I think the PO did the clutch and broke the Verticle mounting bolt so now i have a brace in mine.

Ill try to get a pic of how mine is setup. 220 definately hurts. I found mine at the junkyard for i think $25:madgrin:
