hey guys im woundering i can help me out.

my 95 4runner is very tempermental. it used to be when i washed my truck it would start up and idle fine, but if i were to step on the gas and try and go some where the engine would serge. it would go up to 2000 rpm the back down to 1200 and keep doing that until the truck was completely dried out. i cant even drive my runner, it wont get up to speed with out the rpm coming back down.

now it only does that when there is moisture in the air or raining. i can wash my truck now with out any problems.

my mechanic thought it was the distributor cap and rotor. so being that i just bought this truck 2 months ago i changed them. and boy did they need changing. i also changed the plugs and wires. i dont think they were ever done.

but i still have this problem.

i also had a car alarm and car starter combo put in. and ive only notice this problem after this was installed. ive been back to the shop where i had it installed and they say it has nothing to do with sytem. but i beg the differ. i just have to prove it, if its that

my truck only has 113000kms on it, if that helps, and the check engine light is NOT on.

any help would be apreciated. im at the point right now that im going tosell it and never buy another toyota again. and ive owned toyota all my life.

thanks for the hepl

were you washing the engine compartment.?? if not, im wondering if water is leaking into the ecu. is there water getting into the cab. the ecu is located on the passenger kick panel. also check the wires for the alarm to see if they poked a hole into the wireharness plug, if they did water may be entering though the plug and shorting something. good luck.
