95 T4R problem

Hello,
Well, Blew my head gasket on my 95 T4R. Figured that I would save some money and do it myself. Just got it all back togeather and it will not start.
It turns over no problem, sound a bit like a tractor. While I was careful with TDC while the heads were at the shop I cleaned the pistons, And while I beleve that I turned them twice (everytime) I think maybe they are on the exshost stroke and the pistons are on the compression.
The only other thing I can think of is that I screwed up on a vacum hose (I thought that I did a good job marking them but a few I put where they looked they went.
Please let me know if you have any Ideas.

After the obvious fuel/spark thing I'd go back to what your gut is telling you, verify the cam timing. It's easy to mess up.

First thanks for the help. Had to go buy a new battery for it, after cranking it over so many times died and would not hold a charge.

Sparks a yes, not sure how to check if it’s getting fuel but I think so.
In addition, I checked and everything is still on TDC.

If I screwed up and have the pistons on exshost and the cams on compression, could I just take off the timing belt and turn the pistons one revolution to get everything even or do I need to take off the heads.
Also, could this screw up the engin?

YES, Problem solved

Well, I am a champ at changing the timing belt, off and on in about 5 minutes, not that that was the problem. After checking the belt 4 or 5 times I looked at the distributer, pointing right at the mark that I made, but what the hell, I marked it off by a grove. Changed it and all smiles now.
