I have a '95 4Runner with 190K. This past weekend after making a 200 mile football trip the A/C went out on me. It just all of sudden stopped working and the A/C light on the panel will not even come on. Prior to this, I would intermittently hear a rattling sound when the A/C was in use. Does anyone know what this is or could be? I'm not mechanically inclined so I'm trying to get as much info before I take it to my mechanic. I'm also trying to decide if it's worth the investment or if I should pony up for a newer model. There seems to be a problem with it burning oil as well. I keep her(Silvia) filled up with oil but every once in a while she puts out a bad odor and when I lift the hood she's smokin from somewhere below the dip stick. Thanks!
