95 v6 fuel problem?

got a 95 3.0 auto 212k that is hard to start after sitting, it will start but i have to keep my foot on the pedal to keep it from stalling out. after driving about 30 seconds it will idle, but lower than normal. could this be the fuel filter? thanks.

Sounds to me like it might be a vacuum issue. You'll notice that you're engine will idle for about 30 seconds at a high idle, before dropping down. This is because the engine computer does not kick in and take control of the engine right away, it just runs at default values. There's a possibility that your ECU is correcting the issue once it warms up, but something's causing it to run rough without that correction, and that usually indicates a vacuum issue, at least from what I hear from others here.

I'll also point out that I know nothing about the v6 engines, and generally take what I hear from others as fact once I've heard it more than once, so I may be completely wrong. :bonk:

I had a similar problem with my 94 4Runner. It would start up fine, but then after getting warm it would start having problems. After killing it or it dying on its own, it wouldn't restart until it cooled down. It turned out to be the fuel pump. I swapped it out with one of the fuel pumps from a Celica Beams motor we had here at the shop and now it works greats. I'm not a mechanic, but that might be one thing to check on yours.
