Can someone post a pic in the engine that shows the EGR valve on the driver side header?

And is there any way to know if certain years have it, or is it only trucks that came from CA and NY?

I've honestly never seen one with an EGR. My understanding was that only the T100 got it.

Oh really? I'm about to run a sale on Doug Thorley headers for 96-02 4Runner and my guy at Doug Thorley is saying with or without EGR I need to make sure first.... The headers also fit tacoma, etc. SO this with egr or w/o egr isn't a 4Runner thing you think?

No 5VZ-FE 3G 4Runners had the EGR. Only pre-OBDII 5VZ-FEs like the T100 had them. All 3G 4Runners are OBDII so no EGRs. Those two silly looking capped tubes on top of the throttle body were for the EGR.

The 3VZ-FE 4cyl engines DID have the EGR. I do not know if they had them all the way to 2000 (last year they were in 4Runners.)

No 3G ('96-'02)3.4L 4Runners. I have no idea about earlier 4Runners. But I don't think they had the 3.4L V6 at all.

It's this dinky little valve on the back of the intake manifold on the RZ motors (The silver one, directly under the black valve). All 3RZ and 2RZ's had it. Exhaust side is just a small 2 bolt flange on the back side of the exhaust manifold. It's not a complex or detrimental system at all on our motors like it is to the modern diesels, just a way to slightly reduce emissions.
