Magnaflow, eh?

I suggest a different brand, maybe a Cherry Bomb or a TRD exhaust system... don't go through the crap that me and others have been through. Your call ultimately, I'm just trying to save you the headache.

tried that, a couple i like rely on magna flow? thanks for the info on the brand though... well perhaps my question is performance wise what has more gains in hp and clean roar?

You won't gain any horsepower or torque with only a muffler or catback exhaust.

You will have to change your exhaust manifolds to headers, replace your stock catalytic converter with one that has a larger pipe, and catback.

The exhaust system is like a drinking straw, if you make one part wider, there's still the original thin part that will limit your flow.

If you really want some performance gains, a supercharger is really one of the main ways to gain power. Even if you do all of the exhaust and the intake, it will not benefit you much. I have LC Engineering performance headers, a 2.5" catalytic converter, and 2.5" piping, and I didn't see that much of a gain until I installed my supercharger.

So, all in all, a new muffler will just change the sound of your truck. Choose what you like, unless you plan on doing all of the exhaust and intake.

I spent $500 for headers, $300 for a high flow cat, and $225 for muffler/catback piping.

Still didn't gain nearly that much. You V6 owners have it even worse for gains, being that the 5VZ is less restricted stock, you gain less with performance parts (that cost more for you since there's double the exhaust manifolds)

i got a magnaflow40 series from a friend. hey its better than my stock one! and if i wanted the stock back i have it right here. sounds good. drone is noticed around 2k RPM's sometimes i let my bro drive it around the neighborhood..distinct nice drone to me

Do you mean Flowmaster? I was pretty sure that they made the 40 series...

On my 2wd i have flowmaster 50 series. Maybe that would suit your needs a little more. Its not too loud but definitely noticeable. 40 series is a little deeper. t4r4life has 40 series and that thing sounds mean as hell. both 40 series and 50 sound great. After switching to my new 4runner with stock exhaust I think im gonna leave it as is. After a few years and driving on the freeway the loud noise wasn't as pleasant as it used to be. But yea, the 50 series is probably a happy medium.

You see any performance changes? does that exhaust exert a sick noticeable roar? Love making an entrance:)

no performance. just as ChildrenOfBodem stated..not unless u change the whole system. But it does sound good. and i like it. Not too loud..but then whats loud for me might not be for you. i love it..but i've heard the TRD full system ....and that just put me to shame..the start up with the full TRD sounded super aggressive yet humble

Do a 50serie sounds great...is it a smooth controlled growl? Because ive heard nasty flowmaster that sound like my regular broken muffler
