My g/f has a 97 4runner, and the other night we couldn't get it to start. I know its not the battery or starter because it turns over but then it tries to idle for about a split second then the engine dies. I finally got it running by turning the key with my foot slightly on the gas. when the engine started i kept the rpm's up manually with the accelerator for about 5 minutes, then slowly released the gas pedal and the engine idled by itself. What could be the problem??? Thanks in advance.
