97 4runner rear storage

I was wondering before I go junk yard shopping if the rear passenger panel with the large storage door will be a one for one swap for the small door one I have in now?

It should be. I have a 97 (the smaller storage space model) and when I pulled it out there was just a ton of dead space. There are some wires that run back there but they stick pretty close to the wheel tub.

I am also curious on this. A few months ago I compared two pictures. One of the 99+ and one 96-98 with trim taken out. Looked like there was extra metal/frame on the 96-98 area. I'm not sure if it something that can be removed with minimal issue. Can anyone chime in?

Thanks for the link. This is something I will do when it gets cooler. The extra space will be worth it.
