97 owner, in the que for a new 14!

Wife & I purchased her a new 97 back in the day and it has served us very well since. Many vehicles have come and gone since but the 4runner has always kept a place in our garage. Feel it's time to update so I am currently specking a new 2014 Trail Premium with a friend who runs a dealership locally. Gonna want some mods for it soon so getting onto this forum was a must! First 3 things to tend to after it arrives will be running boards, roof rack for the kayak, and new black or grey rims with a bit more rubber around them.
Any and all guidance is appreciated!!

Did you happen to get the factory running boards on your SR5? I am struggling with getting factory or aftermarket. I like some pics I have seen from previous Trail edition boards but the 14s seem to be different. Can't find good pics and none on lots here have them. Although the SR5 could be different.

Welcome! Personally, I like the 2013 front better. 2014 looks wierd and where I live I still haven't seen one on the road. I'm wondering if the 2014 will be the lowest resale 4runner ever?

Yea, everyone has their own taste. It's like me, I hate the orange gauge cluster and lighting that comes in the 2013 4runners, compared to the 2014 4runners. Here where I live, they are selling like pancakes, and you see a lot of them roaming around. I also had the option to buy a 2013 fully-loaded limited edition for the same price as the 2014, but I thought "Nah". I love the 2014 way better!

Well, resale is not a huge buying factor for us today. As you can read, we still own the 97 we purchased new in 97!

Ordered today! Without running boards. Toyota is having issues with supply of them apparently. So, what boards have come out that will fit a 2014 Trail?

Still looking for boards! Have found a few sliders that I like but wife isn't crazy bout em. Anyone find aftermarket running boards that will fit a non kdss trail yet? Yea, we have it home now. Very happy with the purchase.

Congrats. We went from a 96 to a 14 as well. So very happy with my SR5. If you did not live so far from AZ, I would of loved to take your Trail wheels off your hands. If you know a secret, inexpensive way to ship them, I will still offer buy them from you.......if they are for sale.....?

Check out Steve's sliders with this link. They are even more awesome in person. The step is closer to body than the OEM step, but still very functional.
