97 SR5 Engine Rebuild or buy Japan Imported?

Can anybody tell me how much it my cost to rebuild the engine of a 97 4Runner with the 3.4L V6. The engine is currently running and is not burning oil. But the crankshaft is starting to sound like the bearings are starting to go bad. What would be better, to buy a Japan imported engine or to rebuild the one I have? Thanks!

Before you dump a ton of money somewhere that it may not need, confirm whatever the noise is that you are hearing and see if it really warrants paying for a new motor
