'97 V6 Whine

Hello,

Recently picked up a '97 4Runner 4wd 5spd. Got a whine when the throttle is pressed/engine under load in 3rd, 4th, 5th. Greased the u-joints already. Vacuum leak?

Below is a video. You hear it better on the second run-up (volume up a little)

I couldn't really hear anything.
Is there an area where it seems like it's coming from?

It comes on stronger starting at 0:17 of the video.. Not a great recording, I know. I'll try to do another one. Comes from the front of the truck, not the rear like some of the Previa vans used to whistle. (http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/8...-exhaust-whistle-whenever-you-accelerate.html)

Stethoscope and have a buddy touch every component with a pulley and see if its any of those. I just did this my power steering pump was whining.

mine started making whining noise. I did some research and it sounds like it's my power steering pump. Is yours something like this too possibly?

I have a 98 v6 with a 5 speed. Are you referring to the gear box whine? I've had that ever since I bought it used 4 years ago. My old Toyota tercel my brother gave me had that too since new.

It does that too. The gearbox whirs. I think the squeal is the muffler. I spent a good amount of time in a well lit parking lot and couldn't find a leak.

To me, it sounds like a noisy power steering pump. Have you checked the fluid level and the condition of the fluid?

I've never heard any 5spd whine like that, although I've never been in a 5spd 4R.
