98 4Runner tick/knock advise needed

*Major Setback* UPDATE

I was on my way to work last week and got taken out by a car while riding my motorcycle to work. My right leg/foot are pretty messed up and will take me some time to heal. Not really sure how long it will take me to get back into this project, I will keep you guys posted on the progress.

Sorry to hear that man, that is definately not cool. I hope you recover quickly and get back to your project. I think it is awesome that you are able to do things like this yourself. Maybe one day i will be able to disassemble an engine and re-asemble it correctly.

Hey man. I read through this entire thread. I hope you have recovered from your accident. Did you you ever get back to your motor?

hey bud did you ever fix this problem. i have a 98 with 200k and i need to get rid of it but the noise scares everybody off selling at 3000 how much was this repair

I just read through this whole thing also, was on the edge of my seat waiting to see the result of your findings ...I know it's an old thread, but I am experiencing same issue with my newly purchased 98', so if you get a chance to post the root of the problem (if you did get around to finishing the project) , that would be great! Its like I was watching a great show on TV and right at the height of the suspense....show was cancelled
