'98 Head Unit Help

I'm planning on swapping out the stock CD/Radio unit with a Sony unit. They are both single CD units. The only difference is that the Sony unit has a AUX input. Does anyone have instructions on how to both remove and install these? Also, what else would I need to purchase? It's my first time Thanks!

You need a toyota wiring harness which you can pick up at a car audio shop or like a best buy. Is your stock HU single din (meaning you have a tray under your radio) or double din? If its double you need to find a tray kit thing again at a car audio shop or a best buy. There is 4 screws holding the radio in, once you take the trim pieces off. Thanks for the fast reply! It's a single space unit now so i have the tray underneath. How much should that wire adapter cost?

On the back of your sony unit, you need to splice together the wires connecting the HU and wire harness to plug into the stock place...If that makes sense? Are you running an amp?

Alright. I got the unit and the harness that I need. Will i have to connect the HU directly to the battery?

Edit: on the blue ANT REM wire would I use the .1 max or the .3 max?

The 2 blue wires are a power antenna and an amp turn on. The amp turn on is blue with a white stripe and power antenna is solid blue. You will use the solid blue.

I've got the HU running great and everything there works! Now I have another problem... I followed these instructions and when it got to the point where it said to remove the knobs on the shifter... I tried but I have an automatic so it's different from what the author had. I removed the 2 screws on my shifter and lifted up on it to try and remove it but there's a spring there stopping me so I put it back and reinserted the screws. Now the shifter works fine except that it changes without me having to push the button and when I put it in park it won't let me take the key out. help! the battery is slowly dying!
