98 JDM Engine Swap wont start

Just read another post that a guy had this same problem and it turned out to be
A connection at ECM harness not connected right go back and ck all your connectors to be sure they are all tight

Just tested the starter using jumper cables and is fine but we tested the ignition wire going to the starter and it isnt getting any ignition power to the starter. So im not sure what this means.. Could my aftermarket alarm system be screwing everything up? What else?

So you got engine to crank? Did you get it to start? How wet did you get this trk
When you ruined engine? Maybe some other electrical component has failed,time to get wiring diagram and start working thru it

Ya got the engine to crank by connecting the circuit with a screwdriver on the starter but didn't hold it on long enough to start the engine but it did crank over. Water was pretty deep but every other electrical component that I've tried seems to work fine.

Alarm circuit is always prime suspect.

Also:

30A AM2 fuse (this was cause on a recent engine swap I helped with. This is big fuse you can't check visually)
40A AM1 fuse (likewise)
EFI relay
Starter relay
10A IGN fuse
7.5A STA fuse
Circuit Opening relay
Key switch
Park/neutral switch

That's off the top of my head. There is probably more. Time to get in there and chase it down, double checking all those listed fuses first--with a light or meter, NOT visually--then checking voltage at key switch and starter relay after that.

This guy's knows his stuff. He figured out it was my 30 amp am fuse. Lol

Just disconnected the alarm system and connected the two original ignition wires and still no luck... Both relays click but still not getting any power to the ignition line on the starter

Checked the following fuses with a circuit tester:
Ignition
Starter
Am1 40amp
Am1/2 40 & 30 amp
All were fine.

Starter relay clicks when key is turned and the relay on the passenger side clicks also (don't know what relay this is though).

When the two circuits on the starter are connected by continuing the circuit through a screwdriver the motor cranks over though. No ignition power on the ignition wire down by starter though. Going to check and make sure the harness is all plugged into the computer right under the glove box tomorrow. Don't know what else to do at this point..

Used everything off the old usdm motor. Only thing we used off the jdm was basically just the long block

Going to check the relay tonight and see if it's good but my bet is it's going to be fine

Took the glove box off and everything behind there is plugged in to the computer right.

Must have a broken wire in yor harness trace it back

Figured it out! Was the neutral safety switch after all! Took it off and cleaned the contacts and it started right up. Chasing a few noises and the idle seems to differ from 700rpm to 1200rpm and has some trouble dying after just starting it. Could be bad gas tho. Thanks guys!!!

Hey guys I drove through some questionably deep water about a year ago and threw a rod in my 240k mile 1998 5vzfe. For the last year we have been working on it and we bought a JDM engine with said to be low mileage. Put everything together and finally tried to start it last night and the relays all seemed to click but the starter made no noise at all. It is a brand new starter. Battery is good. All the grounds are where they are suppose to be. We can hear clicking coming from a relay near the battery and a relay on the passenger side. Could this be Neutral Safety Switch? If so how do you get to it and check and see if its good? What else could it be? Thanks in advance!

I was wondering about these engines. Saw like 15-20 of them on eBay..avg milage was around 65,000 miles. They were selling for $1100 or so IIRC?? I thought about picking one of these up and just sitting it in the corner of the garage for that today my old girl gives up the ghost. Interested to see how the OP's engine turns out??

It was a 5VZ Engine. He is very happy with it.
