98 starter problem

Something's going on with my starter. When I turn the key, often times the starter does not turn over at all. It may take repeated turning of the keys until the starter activates and then everything works fine. Originally thought it was the battery, but that has now been replaced an nothing has changed.

Is this the starter, or is there maybe some relay switch in between that it might be. Again, when the starter does activate it is fine, no clicking or anything. So either it turns, or it doesnt

SOUNDS LIKE THE STARTER! ITS FAIRLY TYPICAL FOR THE STARTER ON 3RD GEN RUNNERS TO GO OUT AROUND 100-120KMILES. THE INSTALL IS ALSO FAIRLY EASY. THERE IS A WRITE-UP ON YOTATECH.COM

my sister has a 99 4cyl and the starter got stuck ON at about 80k. It was a wierd case, shorted the battery and stunk like shit

i bet the starter i self is good. if you are having an intermitant singel clicking noise. I would inspect your starter contacts in your starter before you replace the whole starter.
