Ok another silly question. Is there supposed to be play in between the connecting rods and crank? When I bolted them down I noticed you can still wiggle the rod a little bit.

Yes that is totally normal to be able to move them side to side enough that there is a clack sound. It acts as a thrust bearing keeping the rods centered.

Yeah ive heard haha, but I'm gonna have to deal with the piggyback for awhile since I would have to save up for the injectors and standalone. And my wife would kill me spending that much money on it right now.

A stand-alone almost has a 0% chance of passing smog though, if you are looking to keep it on the road.

I get my first smog after the piggyback in two months so here's to hoping. I hope they don't mind the wideband sensor either...

I have it registered in Idaho under my dads address so I dont have to worry about smog

Big update guys.... I got the engine finished and the accessories installed. And the engine is in the truck!! Hopefully I get it finished up and running by the end of the week!! Heres some pics.

I plan on doing that at some point, but its not quite in my budget at the moment. do you know of any electric fan kits that I don't have to manually figure out and wire relays and such? also what aftermarket options are available for the pulley?

Thanks! its the turbo manifolds from CXracing. so far they have held up pretty great. might need to re weld one of the supports soon but we will see.

For fans, flex-a-lite has a pre-made set for our engine, or you can fabricate your own mount like I did with my SPAL fan. It's still driven by a flex-a-lite controller though.

If you go e-fan, make sure you get the kind of temp sensor that goes in the upper rad hose, not the probe style one. Our radiators are very thin, and the probe has a hard time accurately reading temps.

ok guys, i need some help. I got everything like 90% back together, enough that it should should turn over if I hook up the battery. well it doesn't. weird part is, when i put the key in the ignition to accessory all the lights come on like I had the key in the on position, but when the key is in the on position only two lights are on, the battery light and the check oil light. but when i crank it nothing happens. any ideas? maybe a ground i missed or something?

Thanks for the help but I figured it out, verdict was I'm an idiot, and forgot to hook up the ground wire from the engine to the chassis. hooked it up this morning and voila, it turns over.

Also what is shot peened? ive never heard of that before.

Guys.... It happened. She is alive!!! I need to do some more work and button some things up. But does anyone know how to adjust the timing on these things? Also does anyone know what this ticking sound is? Also I have to post the video to youtube but I'll post a link.

Basically parts get tumbled with steel shot and gets sort of micro-pulverized so that the surface of metal smooths out any imperfections, which is where cracks usually start.

I'm using the stock ECU with a AIC-T piggyback. do you know if there are any procedures for timing for these or should it do it itself or should I take it to someone who knows what they are doing?

Guys I need some help. I double checked the timing and its spot on for TDC. My next step is a timing light after I figure out how to use it. But it just sounds rough at ideal like it has a misfire. Can anyone tell me what hooks up to drivers side valve cover? The spot that looks like its for a vacuum line. Heres the link https://youtu.be/EMRbNdMN3bM
