Are the tweeter wires on the 6 speaker stock system run straight from the deck( factory deck ) wiring or is there some sort of cross over involved there ?

Don't know about your gen, but on 4th gen tweets there is a capacitor between the speaker wire negative and the tweeter terminal negative. It looks like part of the leads to the tweeter and has shrink tubing around it so you might not notice it. Hope this also applies to you.

From what I could tell when I replaced mine they don't run directly off the H/U. But I didn't find a crossover either which I don't understand. It looked like the woofer and tweeter just split off from the same wire with no way to filter out frequencies. My replacements were wired into my amp so I didn't investigate too much. I just chopped and trashed. Also when I spliced in my aftermarket wiring harness for the new H/U I only recall seeing 4 speaker wires. Hope this helps a little. . .

IIRC they are just run in series with the mid-range speaker that they are with.

When you replaced them ,did you get components with crossovers or did you just replace the factory tweeters ?

Are you running an amp with your new HU ? Just wondering , Ive read around here its better to go thru the factory speaker wires instead of running new wires to all the speakers ??? Yes I was thinking about new tweeters and door speakers , going to put my alpine amp in there as well

I have my aftermarket h/u with just the rear speakers connected(5 1/4 coax now) and the RCAs running to my amp. I have the front speakers (6 1/2 components) wired into my amp because they can handle much more power and will actually be put to work by the amp as opposed to the h/u. When I replaced the speakers I did the front with components (they have crossovers) and rear with coax like the factory setup. BTW rewiring the front speakers was not very fun. I did it to maximize performance.
