'99-'00 4wd 'awd' Push Button Loose and Rattling

The 4wd (awd) push button on my 4wd shifter is loose as a goose and rattles like crazy. I can sometimes push it in, without activating it, to seat it a little better, but due to the natural movement in the transfer case/shifter it eventually rattles loose and makes a god awful noise. Is the shifter serviceable or am I going to need to get a whole new one?

Stick a piece of paper in between the button and housing.

I did this for the rattling mirror on my gf's Avenger. Redneckish, yes, but works.

Don't get me wrong, I was born and raised in the south... But, I rather a more permanent, non jerry-rigged, solution lol

Sounds like a TSB for a pre-recession era Chrysler design.

Check out page 1151 of our beloved FSM, it would appear to me it is not serviceable, replacement is the only option. Luck and enjoy the Runner! :cowboy:
