'99 4Runner Build up - Post Tacoma

Today was a great day. I tightened up the loose throttle cables and changed the plus and wires on my Brother's Toyota.
The good stuff: After a few months of searching for TRD Tundra coils + Bilsteins for the front, I ran across something different on craigslist, but will most definitely work for me. The following are already pre-assembled with Tacoma TRD progressive coils and Bilsteins. Yes, the lift consists of an aluminum spacer lift and these are often frowned upon, especially more so on off road forums but the days of me beating on a daily driver are over and I am not worried about them.
I scored these for the cost of Toytec spacers.

After Cleaning + wire wheel
Afterward, I sealed the deal on my rear lift; a set of LC front coils (double purple, blue + white 19.25" 8 wraps) from one of my good east coast buddies whom did all the tubing on my old Tacoma.
I ordered my rear shocks (Monroe gas magnum) on my way home this evening too. So- all that is left is the diff drop and the panhard drop (may not do the panhard drop).
Looking forward to working on installing all of the parts!

Look what I have- the final piece of the puzzle. (not including the diff drop and tires)
Since it is raining today (big shocker for Seattle) and I don't feel like installing in the rain, I'll swing by the office/plant where I work. I'll have to load up the 4Runner with my tools, but at least I'll be dry!

Guessing you had the tools loaded up in the back for the outside shots? Looks like it had a good rake to it from the first pic. Then seems a little nose high in the outside shots.

Good observation Stick Figure- the outside shots have tools loaded in the cargo area. When the rear is not loaded with tools there is definitely a slight rake that as all know, will settle overtime.
The ride is MUCH better!

Now its time to replace the very worn 265/75/16 Goodyear Wranglers. My thoughts are a General AT, Cooper AT, or BFGoodrich T/A Commercial Traction tires. We'll see- but I am definitely staying with the same size.

The search for tires is over! I almost bought a set of 285/75/16 Cooper Discoverer AT tires (11/32" tread remaining) off Craigslist for just under $400 but opted for something new and in a smaller size.
For $575 out the door, with 50k mile warranty, I purchased a set of 265/75/16 Hankook Dynapro ATM tires. I almost bought a set of Bridgetone Dueler AT Revo2, but after finding the Hankooks I couldn't pass up the deal.

Yesterday (June 9th, 2011) was a successful day.
- Replaced left and right inner tie rod ends
- Took the 4Runner to Firestone for a lifetime alignment
- Installed 1/4" rubber matting underneath the OEM carpet/Huskyliners. (With all of the sound proofing I've done, I won't be able to hear any outside noise while in the Runner!!!)
Tomorrow I will FINALLY install the diff drop.
That's it for now.

Yesterday, I finally got around to taking the front skids off, supported the diff, removing the stock diff bolts only to realize that ToyTec sent me 1/2" x 6" bolts instead of 1/2" x 8" bolts. Of course the MANY hardware stores in the Western Washington area did not have any Grade 8 bolt longer than 6", and Tacoma Screw was closed.
Frustrated at where I was with the SIMPLE project, I said forget it and drank beer with my buddy the rest of the day! But- prior to the beer, I bolted everything back together in stock form, and installed my maglite brackets from the Tacoma, into the 4Runner!
Lessons learned: always check packing slip against received parts, and have back up plans!
I will be calling Colorado tomorrow, hoping for overnight/expedited proper bolts.
(hoping to have this all taken care of before Friday morning, when I head out to Eastern Washington, for a show at the Gorge.
