99 4runner shocks

I have a 99 that up until recently had OEM shocks. It has 168,000 miles and I finally broke a rear shock in November. I did some research on different shocks but not specific for the 4runner, just specific for the shock. I put Monroe SensaTrac shocks on the rear and am just now going to replace the front.

From what I have read on here it sounds like I should have gone with Bilsteins. Anybody have the Monroes that like or dislike them? Should I swap them out and put Bilsteins all the way around? It is a daily driver and I do use it off road several times a year.

Also, is it worth replacing the springs?

When I had my '98, I swapped out the stock suspension for the Old Man Emu "light" set-up at about 100k miles! Best thing I ever did with my Gen3. Believe it or not, it improved the on- road performance 10-fold... braking, cornering, and overall ride quality!

I went with KYB Gas-a-justs

I recently had the original front struts and rear shocks replaced with KYB Gas-a-justs and I love them.

Prior to the replacement I had become accustomed to such a harsh, jolting ride especially over the slightest road imperfections, expansion joints, and pot holes. My 1997 Limited 2WD 4Runner only ran smooth on very even interstates and highways.

Now I don't have to worry about all the bad roads and being fatigued after a long road trip, especially when I visit family in South Jersey from up north in WI.

Sorry for the revive but i have no idea how to buy suspension or even what "suspension" consists of basically i sink pretty good and its been ****ing up my breaks. Im in need of new suspension. If i just bought shocks would i be wrong? Or do i just buy come coils? Can someone shoot me a link if possible of something i could buy, I have a 1999 4 Runner SR5 4WD
