99 front tall coil height vs Tundra coil vs OME 880/881

I own a 1999 3rd gen 4runner with tall coils. I just installed OME 906 coils with Bilstein 5100 24-249966 for the rear and Im at 22" hub to fender.

Now the front..... Im running 265/70/16 now, but will soon install 265/75/16.

With the old stock shock and 99 coil my front sits at almost 21".
It would be nice to sit at 21.5" with 0.5" of rake or at 22" for it to be even.
I want the front to be more soft than the rear and I'm trying to stay away from spacers. I will be running Bilstein 24-248730 4runner specific shocks for the front.

Initially I would like to install new 99 coils with Bilstein for front, but feel it may be too low.
Would second perch bring me closer to 22"?
Are the Tundra coils taller than 99 coils?
Are 880 OME shorter than 99 and tundra coils?
Are the 881 way too stiff for the front end?

Front Coil Lengths

Not sure how the left/right specific coil heights affect overall height?
Also, not sure of the front vehicle height using Bilstein 24-248730 4runner specific shock when paired with the below coils and their adjustable perches.
Im trying to get 21.5" or just under 22"

99 tall front coils
14.72" Left
14.48" Right

Tundra front coils
14.88" Left
14.63" Right

OME 880
14.37"

OME 881
14.76"

99 talls will be the softer than ome or tundra coils therefore a softer ride. If you are going to be pairing 99 talls with adjustable bilstein front shocks then you can change heights as needed. I would probably start on the 2nd notch from bottom and drive around for a couple months and then measure your hub to fender again after everything settles.

Left side coils are taller to compensate for additional weight of the 4wd components and gas tank on the left side.

I would prefer the softness of the 99 coils, but they are much more pricey than the 880/881. If I could get the same front end height from the 880 and they are not too crazy stiff, I may consider the 880 vs 99 coil because of price.

Im running stock front bumper.. but if I came across a reasonably priced ARB, I would probably install it in a heart beat.

Another option would be using 5th gen springs for the front. I put them on all 4 corners with cheapo KYB Gas-A-Just, 21.75 on both fronts, 22.75 in the rears. Got mine from the classifieds here for under 200 shipped for all 4, might get lucky and find someone that only wants shipping covered.

Is it better to have the left and right side specific coil vs the OME at one height? That's personal preference. If you use OME springs and want to adjust the left/right uneven height then you can use trim packers to level it all out.

If so, would the 5100 with 880/881 give me the same front adjustable height as the 99 coils? You can run bilstein 5100 shocks with OME, but most companies that sell this combo only use the bottom perch on the 5100's. Try searching "OME 5100"

You'll want the Moog front springs for a 1999 4wd Limited 4Runner.

On a separate note, 99 talls and OME 880/881's will sag and bounce a lot if you put an ARB front bumper on it. You would need a front coil spring with a higher spring rate like OME 882's or bilstein 6112's.

Im running 906 in rear with Bilstein 5100 4runner specific shocks.

Moog springs work well with Bilstein 5100's. I would start on either the 1st or 2nd perch and drive around for a couple weeks and check your hub to fender measurements. You may need to adjust the fronts to match the rear or whatever height you are going for in the front.

Decided to go with Tundra front coil

I just installed OME 906 springs/ Bilstein 5100 24-9966 for the rear. Im now trying to decide on the correct shock for front. Im going to use new front Tundra coils with a spring rate around #600.

Should I purchase Bilstein 5100 24-261415 (99-06 Tundra firmer valving) or the 4runner specific front shock Bilstein 5100 24-248730? Will the firmer valved shock be too much for the 3rd gen 4runner? Need to purchase asap. Thank you

I would go with the Tundra Bilstein shocks if i were running Tundra coils. I have 4runner specific Bilstein shocks paired with OME 880 fronts and 906 rear coils. Ride is soft and comfortable.

I don’t know how to upload pictures yet. With 4runner specific 5100 on lowest perch, OME 880/906 setup I have 1/2” rake. Center of wheel to fender front 21.5” rear 22” with trim packer installed. Hope this answers your question.
