Anyone know the pinout for converting from 96-98 maf yo 99+? Every link I've found has been dead.

Not sure what the benefits of this mod are aside from the later MAF being cheaper new than the 96-98 one. These MAFs don't crap out that often and are common to a few models, so the older one is available all over ebay 2nd hand for 30-40 notes.
You'll need the newer airbox too. I believe Yota also revised the intake piping (less restrictive sound deadening boxes) and I wondered why people didn't swap out this part too.
You doing this for purely aesthetic reasons??

Stock airbox was crunched in my little fender bender. I got a good deal on a stock airbox from a 99 and forgot toyota changed the maf systems. The 99+ maf is integrated into the airbox. My 98 is not and I don't feel the need to mess with trying to modify my stock one to work. The 99+ should be somewhat beneficial for my supercharger setup. Or atleast I hope.

um the 99 and newer engine management systems are different than the pre 99s, im not sure it will even work or read correctly.

This is an old mod carried out by a member on UltimateYota years ago. The issue is that info is lost in the ether. The pics in the link above show the pin outs between the years. Hopefully when the OP can view it he will update the thread.

Cell phone or tablet home or cell network doesn't open. Brings me to there page but just says a error. What's the thread name maybe searching for that will work.
I tryed to use the maf and airbox off from a early Model Year 1998 SR5 3.4l on my 1999. The wire harness connector to the maf is the same but the ambient air temp on the maf differs as to the 1999 ecu. Sets a code for ambient air temp and idled at 500 rpm on cold start up.The maf worked just fine while in the 1998. Mid year production on the 1998 MY changed the maf, ecu, wiring harness to and from ECU and injectors.

Just worked on the MAF airbox swap on my 98. Only issue I ran into was the hose that goes from the driver head to the intake tube I had to cut down a bit and even worse apparently the hose nipple is bigger on the new air tube, so I can't slip it on. Can I heat this up to make it soft so it will expand over the slightly bigger nipple?

Ahhh got it figured out. I put it back on the old nipple for a few hours and this expanded it enough to then fit onto the bigger one on the new airbox. Thanks for the info on this mod.

Yes, but if you do it would be good to put a hose clamp on it as well to make sure it doesn't find its way back off. Mine was so bad I threw it out and replaced it with some cheapo silicone tubing I had. Just needs to be air tight, size of the hose doesn't matter. That's just the vent hose that sucks clean air into the crankcase that the PCV valve pushes out into the throttle body.
