99 or 00 limited T case drop into 99 sport?

I was reading the transfer case differences thread a while ago and started wondering how complicated it would be to drop a multi mode t case into a 99 sport. As of now, I don't have a truck. This is just one more thing to consider in my shopping. Id like to have the AWD option eventually if I can't find a limited. Just wondering how hard it would e to do the swap...

You can always find a limited. Just look some more.


The transplant would not justify the cost.

Transfer case
Shifter assembly with AWD button
Wire harness
Transfer case ECU
Drive Shafts (transfer case is fatter)

Quite possibly - Instrument cluster with AWD indicator (pictogram with wheels that light up signifying AWD operation.

I also think you need sensors from all 4 wheels;it's not just a simply drop-in and requires alot of work which are reasons I don't recall seeing anybody do this and there's no write-ups on it so it must be just short of impossible to do.

I agree with the others. I've never seen it done either. Just hold out for a '99 or '00 Limited. You could always add a sport hood to the Limited, that's a lot easier.

I've never heard of someone going from J-shift to multimode only the other way around...but if anyone could give you some info check w/ Wyatt @ RockSolidToys.com

Alright. I'm no ace mechanic so this looks like a no go. I'll just keep looking for a limited that has everything I want. Thanks for the info!
