'99 Stock Male Amplifier Harness for a Boat

So I am trying to ghetto rig some nice speakers to put in my friend's boat. I realized I had my old '99 4runners head unit still around with the stock amplifier.

I am planning on making a waterproof box and running the head unit off a separate battery from the boat's.

Any of you know if it is possible to buy the two male wiring harnesses that plug into the back of the stock amplifier so I can splice them into the battery and new speakers?

i decided to just ditch the amplifier and work directly with the head unit. ive been unsuccessful in finding a pinout though so I can't get her to power up.

anyone happen to know the correct colors of the +12V, ignition and ground wires of the stock head unit?

You won't be able to go directly from the head unit to the speakers. You can pick up those harnesses at most custom audio shops or online. Metra makes them and the part number is 71-1761.

This pinouts are available at the beginning of my stickied thread here. The plugs go into the amp, NOT the head unit. I'm pretty sure you won't get a whole heck of a lot of audio output w/o using the amp.

Think of the factory headunit as your 'preamp' and your amp as your 'amplifier'. You won't be able to push any speakers with the headunit alone...it is there just for sending the signal, hence the reason for the factory amp.

You can probably get the plug from the 4runner to the factory amp from a dealer...or you might be able to rig one up...not sure.

You could try to run bare speaker wire into the harness once you get it and do the pop test with batteries to find the speakers I guess.
