'99 suspension question

So I recently replaced my old worn out suspension with KYB Monomax struts/shocks and replaced my old springs with moog springs on the rear and trd red springs up front. I just acquired some rear springs off a '99 and I'm wondering if I should grab the fronts as well or add spacers up front to my current setup..any input/opinion is appreciated!

Install the rear springs first and see what you think. Though, I suppose if you can get the front springs cheap, get them as 'insurance' in case you don't like the '99 rears only.

What application are those TRD red springs for?

I got them from a member on here stating they would work for a 3rd gen yet when they arrived realized they weren't pig tailed on one end but they were square on top and bottom..i rigged up some rubber hosing to fill the void at the bottom and they've stayed center ever since..but I've always been after the '99 coils due to the fact I like the lift it adds also seems as if when it has a payload the moog are a little soft but their still a great replacement stock spring.

Used 99 springs will lose some of their ride height depending on how used they are. If they have a lot of miles on them, they will be quite worthless and give a very squishy ride.

I just pulled my original 300K+ 99 rear coils out yesterday and replaced with 906.
Hub to fender on 99s was about 21, on the 906s raised it to 22. (this is with plate bumper but no rear seats) Guy buying some parts off me today in his 2002, I measured his hub to fender was aprox 20". So 99 talls I guess a 1 inch lift if 906 is 2 inch lift.

Yeah they are about 1 in lift. Depending on how they were used and/or abused, they will sit much lower than a brand new pair once the vehicle's weight is placed on it though.

For example, my 98 springs had over 200k miles on them when I replaced them. They are about 1/2 higher than 01-02 springs for reference when removed. However when I replaced them with the exact same height spring I gained about 1" of lift. Same height springs but they don't compress as far as the old worn-out ones. That's all I'm trying to get to. If you take a used 99 spring and put it next to your stock spring it'll be higher un-sprung, but once you put the weight of the vehicle the spring will start to show its age in both sag and poor ride quality.

Actually I placed the old 99s next to the new 906 on the floor, the 99s were higher, but that means nothing without weight. The 906 is thicker gauge and more wraps. I don't think my old 99s, settled that much over the years.

I run my factory '99 fronts with 906s in the rear. The fronts are still fine, but I dumpstered those rear '99s at 170k because I would not give them to my worst enemy. The ride height looked fine, but the sag with weight was ridiculous and the ride quality sucked. I'm happy with my current setup--slight forward rake.

Thanks for all the info guys! I ended up getting them from a local junkyard for $10 a piece and I figured what the hell?
I'm gonna throw em on the back and see how bad their sagging if their not bad then I'll go ahead and pull the fronts as well..fronts were marked yellow/blue I believe? If not I may get some spacers for the front if the rake is that bad. No sense in taking the time to pull off shocks/springs if their worn out! Also the waste of money and time.

Did the TRD red springs net you any lift in the front?
Can you provide any measurements? Hub to fender and or floor to fender.

Ha, yeah for $10 why not. They are super easy to install anyway so 30 minutes of time and a drive around the block and who knows, they might be an improvement.

No I don't think the TRD springs gave me any lift due to the fact they were the sane height as the original ones I swapped out they were pretty tired..the PO/First owner took very little care of the truck before I obtained it..why you would treat a vehicle so poorly you owned since new? I have no idea! But it worked in my favor because I got the price down based on the list of things that needed to be done.
All I tried to do was put it back to stock and than decide on what to improve/fix from their. I'll take a measurement from hub to fender and let you know.

My vote would be to just new Moog springs for the '99. I recently replaced the rear coils on my runner w/ the Moog's since I had just replaced the rear shocks w/ KYB Mono-max. The rear coild were less than $50 shipped through Amazon, the fronts are a similar price. Everything will fit the spring perches as intended and everything will be fresh.

Yeah I ended up pulling the front springs off the '99 as well and swapped them out over the weekend..man it looks great!! They were still pretty stout and in good shape...looks like I'll have some Red TRD coils for sale here soon! They were a nice spring just wasn't to comfortable on the way i had them setup..

The '99 moog springs are all the same height regardless of the year you choose..Also I did replace my rear shocks in November and springs in december with moogs and im just not to thrilled about them. The boat maybe has 110lbs? Of tongue weight and they sag sooo bad! Looking into other options because a camper has also been in the future talks...if not I'll have to go to airbags I guess? I'm gonna swap the rears this weekend and see where it's at.

If I had to guess they yielded.the same height as '00 coils being that they were both the same height. I think it was around 18 1/2-19" from hub to fender. With the '99 talls their at about 21-1/4" so pretty big difference..

So moral of your story is Moog 99s may sit higher than OEMs of same year yet they're So soft they drop several inches?

When I load up my OEM 01 with all the people, cargo and a 12' trailer with atvs all i drop on the rear is 1". Makes me afraid to "move" up to this brand. :cowboy:
