99 T4R Timing Belt HELP!

I'll try a helpful response. A whine leads me to believe it's one of your pulleys bearings. If a belt is too loose, it will most likely make a squealing sound because the belt is slipping on the pulleys. Maybe one of your accessory belts is too tight causing pressure on the bearing. Get yourself a mechanic stethoscope so you can narrow down the origin of the noise. I bought one made by Lisle via Amazon and it works really well. It helped me diagnose a noise on [MENTION=102606]infamousRNR[/MENTION] engine after we got done with his timing belt job.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll look into getting one of those. It’s definitely not a squeal like a slipping belt. It’s more of a “whine” or a “whirring” sound. It could very well be that I have one of them too tight though. I’ll look into getting a tool to measure belt tension as well.

A new timing belt will not whine if everything is done right. And by whine I assume you mean a constant whining noise that increases/decreases with RPM, not a squeal if you hit the throttle.
Since the 3.4 has a spring loaded tensioner doubtful it's belt tension if you did it right. Been several years since I did my 2002 but I recall something like push it all the way in and pull out 3 clicks or something like that.
Replacing the radiator is not a bad thing on the 3rd gens. More than one poor soul has suffered a pink milkshake and then your list increased substantially for a new tranny.
I live in Denver and know a thing or two about 4Runners if you need anything. No longer have one but my love for T4R's runs deep and happy to help if needed.

I mean, you may not like it, but the guy has got a point. What do you make of an adult that see a pool of fluid underneath a 4,000 lb hunk of metal that goes 70 mph down the highway and goes, 'Hmmm, no biggie, lets roll.'
Just because your feelings are hurt doesnt mean your girlfriend didnt do an extraordinarily stupid thing. This time it cost you a few hundred bucks or a couple dozen hours. What will it cost next time?

Oh by the way - good job on getting the T4R running. I see you used Advance Auto (Carquest) for some of your parts. If you are not aware, there are many discount codes online that will knock anywhere from 20-40% off your order. Make sure to use them in the future and not pay full price like some chump.
