99 Tall Coils vs 5th gen 4runner rear springs

Hi all -- trying to fix the horrendous sag in our newly acquired '01. Have a crack at 2017 TRD Pro rear coils for 1/2 price of new 99 coils. My two concerns are; 1st) I'm not familiar with the color codes on these 5th gen springs (purple/green & purple/blue) and 2nd) ride height. I'd ideally like to have right around the same ride height as 99 coils.

Any helpful insight? Somewhat time sensitive as we're trying to get truck ready for this weekend

Curious about this myself. I have a full set of '14 Trail Premium springs in the garage that I was planning on using for at least part of my lift (rears or all 4, not sure yet).

Can’t speak to the different trim levels/color codes but these ‘16 trails sit nicely with 99 talls. [MENTION=116470]Tyler James Inc[/MENTION] used them on his old setup, I believe.

Pictured, I have them on the rear currently but put OME 880’s up front so I’ve got 906’s waiting to lift up the back a bit.

With a stock length rear shock they will work very well, due to the shorter free height of the 5th Gen springs vs the 99s. I had the 0-2" 5100s and the springs were loose at full droop, not falling out loose but enough that I went back to my 99s. I'll leave all the info I took down below, if you need any more info feel free to ask.

13mm to 15mm wire diameter is a pretty big bump. Assuming the same wire length (#turns works as a proxy for that), the 15mm springs would be 77% stiffer. That's a big change!

I'll definitely be doing some measuring when I am doing my suspension...

I put them in my '97 when I lowered it back to stock height to sell. I never had them off-road, but man, I loved them on the road with OEM 3rd gen Tokico shocks! I'm hard to please, and they were awesome. Sat a little rear-high, but I like that.

One more thing I would like to add is that the SR5/Trail(TRDOR)/TRD Pro share the same rear springs. I believe there is a split (maybe 2010-2104 and 2015+) where the numbers changed themselves. I did check across the board for the 2015+ and every model except the Limited shares the same number.

Very very slightly. Honestly to the naked eye the difference isn't noticeable. With so many guys getting rid of stock 5th Gen suspension for very cheap this is a great option. I really wanted to get numbers on the fronts too but none of my friends had a set lying around.
