Figured I'd say hello and post pictures of my newly acquired 3rd gen.
Got it for a great price. Its a 97 SR5 with 190k on it.

Had an issue with a really loud power steering system, but after some research, I tried one of the easiest repairs, which was cleaning the screen in the reservoir, and its now silent!

Still have a few things to go over such as a leak in the power steering system and a small leak on the underside of the transfer case. Both of which I'll be looking into hopefully this weekend.

I've done basic stuff so far like putting in a new truestart battery, new factory key, new license plate light assembly, oil and filter change, air filter change, pcv valve, plugs, etc. I've also cleaned up and painted the frame and only found 1 spot that i need to weld up at the rear most cab mount on the driver's side. Also made a trip to the boneyard and pulled a new center console arm rest from a 98 (better than my 97 one with the compartment on the lid) because mine was ripped, as well as a new clock.

I just ordered a new floormat clip today because I want to install weathertech floor liners in the whole thing.

Anyways, here are a few pictures.

Haven't updated in a long time. I ended up replacing my steering rack, outer tie rods, and lower ball joints on the truck. Flushing the p/s system made the rack leak pretty bad since the new fluid was clean and thin.

Few other things as well.

Updated center console + Ebrake lever.

Switches relocated as well

And I began the Satoshi grille mod with a spare grille i got at the salvage yard along with the center console.

Tinted the windows today as well.

I also replaced my broken floormat clip for Weathertech liners (2 weeks out). Next will be removing the running boards, maybe tomorrow.

I was thinking of putting a light bar in the same spot, though not one quite as big as that. What do you think of it? Can you use it at night without blinding people?

I'm sure you could use it at night but you'd have to aim it low.I'll only be using this one when nobody's on the road coming the other way and in the trails at night in the spring.

The one i put on is a 30" curved bar. The mounts were wider than the frame horns where I originally wanted to mount it so I ended up welding a tab on each side of the frame and bolted it to those.
It's really bright and would definitely blind oncoming traffic.

Decided to replace my pcv valve today because it's not crappy out.

The old one was very brittle, it broke as I pulled up on it with my hand, so I had to use pliers to get the other part out. Then, the grommet came off in 2 pieces, one in which fell inside the valve cover lol. Had both in stock at work, so I took both pieces and glad I did.
I'll be doing the rest of the service tomorrow.
