A/C Compressor Cycle time

What is the normal cycle time for the A/C compressor to turn on and off? I’m counting 20 seconds, 10 seconds off. Sight glass is showing a little bubbles when it turns on, but stops shortly after. It’s been doing this since I’ve owned it and had it service a couple years ago and was no different after and still did this.

Reason it’s brought some concern is I notice my old Corolla a/c would hardly cycle like my 4runner. Is this bad for the compressor if I keep running it like this?

Edit:

I’d like to add now that I tested with it being hotter out, the compressor is now 30 seconds on, 10 seconds off.

Normal operation and not something I would be concerned about. Judging by your sight glass description you have the correct amount of refrigerant in the system.

The A/C in my 2004 V8 4Runner cycles like that while the one in my 99 Sienna seems to run much longer before cycling. I put a sensitive, instant read meat thermometer in the central air duct. Both vehicles put out air between 42°F and 55°F, depending on if you're stopped at a light or going down the road at 45 mph. Both A/C units are OEM, right from the factory, no maintenance.

All my vehicles are rock steady at around 42F no matter whether I'm moving or not. That's with recirc on and temp full cold.

It should cycle less the hotter it is out.
Only way to check it correctly is put a set of gauges on it.

You are correct. I just checked it again when it was hot and now it’s running 30 seconds on, 10 seconds off.
