A/C compressor kick on V8?

I’ve been dealing with this since I purchased my ‘05 V8 in October of last year, but don’t know if it’s completely natural or not.
When I turn the A/C on and the compressor comes on, I do know it’s supposed to idle the car higher which is normal. But does anyone feel a little kick from the car when the compressor turns on? It kicks forward as if it wants to go even when I’m pressing on the brake. I even notice it turning on and off while cruising because you can feel the vehicle kick forward or backward when it turns on and off. It’s not violent, but definitely noticeable. Anyone else notice this?

How ironic..., I was experiencing this today and tried to find the right words to do a search. But yes I'm experiencing it along with feeling like I've lost several horses while running the AC.

Do you have a V6 or V8? My dad owns an ‘05 exactly like mine but it’s a V6 and I know that it simulates the same exact feeling, however, on the V6 because of the smaller engine you can’t feel it as much as on the V8

I have the V8.

Not sure why I don't experience the same as ya'll, the only thing I can figure is that some may have a bit of air in the brake lines and or the rubber brake lines are at or almost to the end of their life and are stretching/bulging and reducing the pressure being applied on the brake pads, since some are saying new braided metal lines reduce or eliminate the issue.

I live in AZ and we use our AC all the time. I have a V8 and it would lurch forward but not as bad others are describing. I always felt like I had to press the brakes harder at a stop.

Anyway, last weekend I replaced the rotors, pads, and brake lines and since I read this thread I have been testing my AC for the last two days. Nothing. The vehicle holds well and does not jump when the AC is turned on. Morning, day, night. Cold/hot engine.

I installed Centric rotors, Akebono pads, and Centric SS brake lines.

2008 V8 here and mine has experienced noticible parasitic power drain from the AC compressor since day one. Someone above said it feels like you’ve lost a cylinder when driving and the AC compressor kicks on and it is literally that apparent in my truck.

Also, it wants to jump forward at full stop when the compressor fires up.

Annoying as hell.

You would think with the amount of torque and HP these 2UZ have that the AC compressor kicking on while driving wouldn't cause such a draw on the motor that it is noticeable to the driver. It is annoying as hell while just simply maintaining constant throttle and you feel like a cylinder dropped out on the road.

My only explanation is that since it is a serpentine belt, the extra force of the clutch engaging causes that much extra drag on the belt, thus robbing the engine of power. But still, it shouldn't be happening.

Another possible cause of this issue is that maybe some of these AC compressors are at or near the end of their life and it takes more power to turn them when they kick in, bad bearings causing undue internal friction, etc., another psoobile cause is engine not running properly, i.e. needs a tuneup, throttle body cleaning, many numerous other little things that could cause loss of performance.

I can't think of any other reasons that some has this issue and some as myself doesn't.

Mine has done it since I drove it off the lot with six mi. on the clock. Toyota Master Tech and a Regional guy got involved and gave me a 7yr/100K Platinum Warranty so that I wouldn’t return it under CA’s Lemon Law (had a handful of things happen with the truck in the first few months of ownership).

What baffles me is that other V8 owners can’t feel it yet it’s so apparent in some of ours.
