My 3rz engine was out for something like 8 weeks while it was getting rebuilt. When I got everything back together, it seems my A/C isn't getting as cold as it used to.
I put a thermometer in the vent, and it usually hung around 50*F. after extended driving, it would work down to 40*F. It used to be ice cold all the time.
Checked the pressures. The high side pressures would climb until the compressor would kick off due to going too high. Low side was a little lower than I would have liked to see, something around 20 psi, until the high pressure would kick it off.
Checked the charge. the system, according to the sticker was 1.32-1.54lbs. on recovery, I got 1.37lbs.
My fan clutch doesn't seem to engage. With a heavy work glove, I can stop the fan with my hand at idle.
The A/C seems to be working to some degree, since I see a ton of water coming out of the evap drain. The temps and humidity were up, but the pressures and vent output still seem a little low.
I think the clutch is OEM, since I have owned it since it had 64K miles on it, and it now has 217K. I like writing out my problem in a forum, not only for the help, but also to help me put all of the problems out on a screen for me to sort out.
On a side note, the little 2.7 seems to be working almost perfectly, except for the A/C. I did have to replace the harmonic balancer, due to a wobbly outer ring.
Any thoughts on this to help me out?
Thank you!
