A/C issues

I'm looking at buying an 86 4x4 with 22re. The A/C has not been run in a long time and does not work. The owner says it needs a new compressor. OK, that's $300. But will that be all it needs? I'm suspicious that if the ac has been dead for a long time, all the seals are probably shot and I will be looking at a lot more than just the compressor. Am I right? What else might need to be replaced to get the AC back up and running?

You will need to pressure test the system for leaks such as hoses etc. You will also need refrigerant and refrigerant oil. The best thing would be to have it professionally diagnosed.

Well you are right, but pro mechanics cost dough that I'd rather not spend if I dont have to. I just want to get an idea of what else might be a potential expense, other than the compressor.
