A/C Not Blowing When Engine Is Started

Sporadically, my A/C will not blow when I start my 2016 4R but if I adjust the fan knob, it will start blowing again. It’s happened about 4 times over the past year but very sporadic.

Has anyone experienced this or heard if this happening? Any ideas on what maybe causing the issue?

This hasn't happened in my 5th gen but it has happened a couple times in my new Tundra. I suspect it simply needs a reflash but it hasn't bugged me enough to make the 90 mile drive to the dealer and fight with them over it, yet.
 
Yeah, it's happened to me a few times too over the last few years. Doesn't start to blow till you adjust the fan.

Next time it happens don't adjust the knob at all and see if it catches up after 30-45 seconds. Tundras and other models have a soft blower start up sequence to prevent excess current draw initially. 4runner may be the same.

This.

The 4Runner is the same, it comes on when it is ready, usually well under a minute after starting.
 
I guess im weird. I turn off the heater or ac before i shut the vehicle off. So it is always off when i turn on any vehicle.
 
Happens to me when the knob is in between catches. If you turn the knob for the blower speed you can feel it clicking. If you carefully position the knob in between clicks it will not turn on when you turn the truck on until you position it forward or backward.

Hi trjncpa,

If the system doesn't start-up automatically (after 45-60 sec), Disconnect the NEG Battery term for a minimum of four hrs; this action will reset the system to it's factory default settings; it's driven by software and so will occasionally need to have it's temporary files and history logs removed... much like your home computer when you reboot! Thank you for all of the helpful comments. I’m now thinking that was that the knob was set between two fan speeds. I have two videos that I recorded and that was the case both times. I wouldn’t have guessed that the knobs would be that sensitive but I learned something new so it’s wasn’t a waste. If it happens again and this isn’t the case, I’ll keep you posted.
