A/C question...

Does anyone else experience this? -->

I can tell it is related to the air conditioner, because when it is not on the problem does not exist. When I am idling at a light the rpms get a little erratic and you can feel a slight vibration/shake as the air conditioning is running. It is not terrible but noticable. 08 V8..

It comes and goes type thing while you are idling...

Thanks for any help...

Cheers

That's the A/C compressor cycling on and off. If you notice, the RPM usually rises a bit to compensate for the additional load on the engine when the compressor is engaged. Completely normal...

I wish the light would go on / off so you could atleast tell when driving , because in auto mode though it does go on / off by itself there is no way of telling.

When you sitting / idle I can tell easy enough but not while driving.

Yeah, same here...never while driving...just while idling. I figured it was normal but just wanted to check to make sure.

That's the thing with this truck. It is so smooth in general that any kind of irregularity like this will be noticed....

Thanks...

I will try and notice next time whether it is going up or down...figured it was normal...

Thanks...

I'm just curious - why would you want to know that?

I would think with an '08 V8 only the most picky, trained ear type should notice it cycling. Another member here just had his checked for excessive noise and it was overcharged. May be worth checking out... http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38686

Again, for me it is not noise...It is just a noticible shutter/vibration...Suppose it could be overcharged though and this is how it is being manifested for me type thing...I will have them check it on my next oil change...

Cheers
