A couple Questions

Hello Yall, Hope that you are having a great Memorial Day weekend. Thank You for your service if you are First Responder or one of our service men or women. :usa2:

I have a couple questions regarding some random stuff.

1. Is a rooftop tent worth it? I have a conventional ground tent. For reference, I plan to camp maybe at most once a month. I just think that possibly my money could be spent somewhere else for more effect.

2. What rear springs should I run? I am going to be running the Icon stage three which is 3-inch coilovers, UCA's and rear shocks. I will be running a C4 fab or CBI offroad rear bumper with a spare tire and jerry cans. I will have front runner roof rack with some accessories. (I have looked at the lift FAQ's but cannot seem an answer to this question.)

I’m personally not a fan of RTT’s. They are big, heavy, make your rig top heavy, and less overhead clearance. I also like to set up “Base Camp” when I’m out, then go wheeling from there. With a RTT, you would have to take it down and set it up each time you head out. They also take up way more room in your garage when not in use. I’d spend the money elsewhere on suspension, armor, lights, recovery equipment etc.

Roof top tent brings a huge drag. A friend of mine mounted a roof top tent on his prado (same 5vzfe and 5 speed). He states it takes higher RPM's to hit 100 KmPH with the tent on.

RTTs are great depending on what you want to use it for. And not all of them are heavy - mine is about sixty-ish pounds. I wheel the crap out of my rig with it on.

That said - I don't take it to Moab or where I am doing serious multi-day wheeling. I will pack a tent or sleep in the back (or get a condo in Moab). I do a lot of snow wheeling and the RTT is nicer than sleeping in the rig and a LOT nicer than setting up a tent.

If you have other stuff to do on the rig use the money there first
