A different front bumper direction!

This month I will be changing my very ugly stock black front bumper (spray canned from the previous owner)

to something a little different. I want to transform it into something like this:

It will be silver on the outsides and black from the hood down (grill and center of bumper) I will also do some vehicular shortening! I'm going to try to move the front bumper back about 3-4 inches

I just like the look of it, so stay tuned. (Pics to follow)

Yeah, I think it does need help. I'll be interested to see it when you are done. It could look pretty cool. It looks like the front bumper is riding a little low. It probably wouldn't look as bad if the flares were black too. You should take some pictures and photochop some designs.

yeah it does look low, but its just missing the top trim piece. It looks like the bumper is held onto the frame in multiple spots on either side of the vehicle. anyone have experience with this?

I will photoshop something for you when I get home.

As for the mounting... If I remember correctly, it mounts on the frame ends on both sides, and a couple more bolts up by each fender...

The bumper is held on with a half dozen bolts. I will be surprised if you can move it back much. The real bumper is just behind the fat lip.

My goal is to make it look as stock as possible, I don't want the average person to notice that its been done (I don't know if I'm explaining this right). I plan on keeping the frame untouched if possible and only modifying the bumper or completely replacing it with a new design. This way, if i ever need to sell it or trade it in, i can just grab a bumper from the bone yard and slap it on there. I look forward to the photochop. I'll try to do something similar.

Man I've been wanting to make my front end look like the front of a 5th gen Trail Edition too. It looks like it would be easier to accomplish with the 96-98 front end than with the 99+ front end though...

hey, can someone post up a picture of the front of thier silver limited with painted bumpers! I need picture just like this, for photochopping purposes. Thanks
