the fob just stays in your pocket though, you never have to touch it (i don't know if this is how toyota does it, but that's how it is in my volvo).

on my volvo when i approach any door and put my hand on the handle it unlocks (with no delay, opens immediately) then i just sit down and press start. when i get out i just touch the door handle and it locks.

it's really nice and you miss it after using it

the main reason i liked the auto wipers in my BMW was that they had more variability so were always at the perfect speed for the condition

That's why they are luxury features. Yeah, they are silly, but they're kind of nice to have. My $20k Fiesta ST has keyless/ push button and auto headlights. I recognize I don't need them, but it is kind of funny that my 4Runner cost twice as much and doesn't have any of them. I notice every time I switch vehicles.

This exactly. I don't get why people can't seem to see push button keyless start as a nice amenity. Sure, I can start the 4Runner with my key just fine but I do miss not having to pull out a big ass key with keys attached to it in order to start the car. It was nice having the fob in my pocket or in my backpack/camelbak and not have to worry about having it in my pocket all the time or dangling about and always touching my knee. :baby:

That being said I've grown accustomed to a normal key again.. but a man can wish right?

I used to think this way also but after having the keyless start for over 3 years now I can never go back. I especially like it when I take my Waverunner out. I leave my fob in a waterproof container with my billfold and do not have to worry about dropping my keys in the water. Also when going back to get the trailer the fob just stays in the container. I just walk up to the 4runner open the door and start with no hassle.

Next up will be auto ass wiping. Just sit in your seat, when done you throw away the recyclable paper covering over the seat. Kinda like how doc office exam tables are set-up with the giant paper roll.

If I wanted 'luxury' I would have bought a Highlander. Keep the 4 basic, with limited gadgets.

The high price we pay is for reliability.

Keyless Entry/Push Button one of those silly things that you miss when you have it, then don't. Keys always stay clipped to my belt loop, easy to unlock and open doors or hatch with both arms full of crap, less hassle when locking the car up for some watersport activity... etc.

Admittedly it's a bit of a lazy feature, but hey, it's pretty damn convenient.

I am guilty of this, key chain for the Pilot must weigh a full pound with all the keys to everything, grocery store frequent shopper cards, etc. All that weight pulling against gravity wreaks havoc on the lock solenoid in the steering column.

I have a 2004 1/2 ton ECSB Silverado 4X4 with 170K miles which I bought brand new. The interior in my truck has held up well. I took care of it, not obsessively, but did the basics. No complaints at all with it. No rips, tears, sagging headliner, or anything falling apart.

I'm not a Chevy defender, but I've been happy with my truck and it has done everything I've asked it to do. It's been paid for for 8 years and keeps on rolling...

My DD is a Chevy Cruze with a 2.0 Turbo Diesel. It has been trying to say the least. Not because of build quality or leaving me by the side of the road, but it has a rather complex emissions system and GM has battled to get all the kinks ironed out. There are delete kits for it that solve the emissions problems. I have left mine bone stock. And I can say its interior is miles ahead of the Corolla. The little 2.0 is a super nice motor in a Cruze. Tons of torque and nearly 59MPG on extended highway trips.

We have the Cruze diesel too, it's a nice car but has it's issues. My wife drives it she was resetting the check engine light daily they just did a recall on it for the emissions. I once had to drive it 400 miles home late on a Sunday in limp mode thanks to that emissions system. The dealer is clueless of course, we battled with them for months over dead battery problems, they literally refused to replace the battery (at our expense) because the machine said it was fine. We finally got fed up and replaced the battery ourselves, it's been fine since.

Haha...Out of curiosity, just how many keys do people carry around? I have one house key attached to the 4R key. That is it. The house key is for just in case. I don't need it because I can always open the garage from the 4R. My office uses a swipe card. My mailbox key is in the car. Not reason to carry it with me because I only check the mail on my way out/in when driving. I leave all the store cards in the car because it is not like I'll walk to Costco or whatever so why carry that crap with me?

Even this I think it is too much. the 4R key fob is one fat piece of plastic.

I have precisely 3 keys on my ring: Car, House, and PO Box plus a little Colorado flag fob because I'm one of those guys. My Fiance has a keying that weighs as much as a tape measure (highly scientific comparison) and could probably be used as a medieval flail in a pinch.
