Hello all... My name is Nate, I'm the fng. Whats up?

-FYI- I was an advanced level avionics technician for F-18s while in the Marine Corps, so skilled would be an understatement when it comes to wires and the troubleshooting of but I figured I would come and talk to the guys who've experienced said problem and possibly point me in the right direction so I'm not wasting my time. Being a gearhead and a small business owner I understand forums can often be a place where individuals get internuts(become a tough guy or a smart ass because they hide behind a keyboard) and I would like to say I respect your knowledge and the assistance you provide and will not ridicule anyone for giving false information so in turn I only ask for the same respect.

So heres the problem:

I've done some reading before I posted this so as to not waste anyones time. I realize the dome light, the radio and the clock belong to the same circuit and respective fuse labeled "dome" under hood. So with that being said I have a short. Fuse pops before I can push it in. Has anyone else experienced this? Are there common failure locations? Any hints? The truck is a 92 that only has 181k on it and has been well taken car of. I don't believe that anything has been really messed with(wiring) except for an after market radio install that I checked out myself, very clean and correct.

Does anyone possess the wiring diagram for the stated circuitry? If so that would be great!!!

+1 check the dome light bub first.

Then check the wiring for the "new" radio and of course power and grounds.
 
Well, I'd start by unplugging everything on that circuit and plug the fuse back in, if the fuse does not pop then start plugging everything back in one at a time until the fuse pops again. This may work and or may not.
I've got lots of expensive testing gadgets at my shop to test for shorts but man even with them power probe circuit testers it's still a pain to find shorts.
I'll check for you on Mitchell on demand to see if I can send you a wire diagram, but I think they protect their diagrams from being copied and pasted, I'm sure I'll have to print it out tomorrow, scan it with my scanner then post it here as a picture or email it to you.

I just looked at the dome light circuits on Mitchell and I may be wrong but it almost looks like the rear speakers are powered by the dome light/radio power circuit, maybe they have built in amps? It's just wierd that the blue/yellow wire from the dome light circuit goes to the radio and then to the rear speakers.
 
Well, I'll have to print it tomorrow at work because I don't have a scanner here at home.
I'll print you Mitchells wire diagram and the Toyota wire grid diagram. The Mitchell is easier to understand.
I'd still try to unplug the things on that circuit until the fuse stops blowing, that should narrow it down.
 
Ok so here's what happened. I was getting ready to start unplugging items from the circuit and then t/s. What happened next is cool with a side of unknowingly disturbing... Keep in mind I had not unplugged anything in yet, I put a fuse in and everything works?!?!?!?! I will still be needing those diagrams lol I don't want this to come back and bite me in the ass.
 
I have not forgotten about the wire diagrams. I have to buy a new scanner! My faithful hp950 decided last weekend to display warming up on the screen, after 40 mins of warming up it displayed scanner failure!!!

I'm going to buy a new one this weekend, so if you still need the diagram let me know and I'll print it on Monday and send it your way.

Diagram here

I found a diagram I was able to save on my computer. It is a Toyota Digram that I found on Mitchell and was able to save it as a picture. Hope you can view it.

Wow, that picture was huge, wonder how I can resize it? I resized it now it's looks to small! LOL, Save it to your computer and enlarge it.

Anyway the picture I want you to see I can't save to my computer, I can only print it. Again i'll have to do it at work after I buy a new scanner.
