I'll play along because this another one of my pipe dreams. Your best bet here would be the overseas version. I'm sure the Hilux Surf had this option especially the diesel version.

EDIT: Well I did a bit of research and unfortunately its appears that none of the 4th gen Hilux Surfs had a manual transmission option. Now having said that, you could use the manual transmission from a 1GR Fortuner but pretty much everything else would have to be custom or a least have a custom fit.

If u want a manual just buy a FJ Cruiser. Personally, coming from a guy who's driven manuals his entire life (even my old 3rd Gen T4R was a manual), I love the automatic in my 4th gen.

well automatic is nice...
but manual is interactive and allows you to really feel/control the vehicle!
so im guessing there is not an easy way to change it over or a cheap way?

well i would but i do not like the visibility from the FJ now if it was the FJ40 that was actually a good none rusted piece of crap i would DIE haha

I wonder if you could put the FJ six speed manuel transmission in a T4R? A conversion of some type? just a thought.. This has always been a dream of mine as well.

With the FJs available in Manual and the Tacoma 4wd in manual, I couldnt see why not.

The lack of a manual was one of my hesitations in buying a 4th gen as well. For the time and cost involved to do a manual swap, I'd likely just buy another vehicle.

I think the closest you're going to get it getting a manual 4 door Tacoma and putting a topper on it.
