A question about wheel offsets.

Is there a biger difference or benefit of going -38 over -10? I am looking at ScS and have no clue what's the difference. I am only planning on going with 285's and no larger, I think. I have a OME 3 inch lift with heavy springs, and Dirt Kings UCA's are inbound. I am looking at the Coastal offroad front bumper or the C4 overland bumper if that matters.

-38 will stick out 28MM more than the -10. This means it will rub worse at the bumper and cab mount chop area. it will have a bigger arc when the wheel is turned vs a -10 offset.

the -38's look better IMO but wheel offset preference is subjective

I have 17x8.5 wheels with -12mm offset and it looks fine to me. 285 70 17 tires.

As stated above, a -38mm offset will stick out about an inch further, causing more interference.

-12 fuel blitz w/ 1.25 spidertrax spacers. To me this looks the best when you've lifted > 3". -12 looks great without a lift/spacer since it fills in the wheel wells nicely and sits flush with the fenders. It'll rub if you're at stock height though.

Keep in mind that offset alone will not tell you the whole story. You need to know the width of the wheels. A wheel's offset is the distance between a wheel's mounting surface and centerline. Without the width to determine centerline you can't tell the difference between the wheels.

285's and -10 will fit and look great. -38 is going to rub with 285's

Man, I wish SCS would make some of their wheels without the fake beadlock screws. I love the Ray 10's but the fake beadlock look kills it for me.

Thanks guys, I am looking for a beefy look and I am going with Yokos or General M/T's. I just didn't really know if there is a benefit of going -38 over -10. I am going for light weight so the F5's are on my list.

I'm running -10 with 4.1" back space and have 305/70/17. I'm more than happy with the performance and appearance. I also have an aggressive body mount chop due to the wide tire. I would not get a -38 as others have mentioned.

here's one from the front. I don't have one from the side at the moment, I can upload one on friday. I just don't take enough pictures sadly. regardless you can see even with an 8" wheel and -10 offset with the 12.25" wide tire they do not stick out. if you have a 285/70 it would be even narrower.
